Biblical prayer app, how to pray Scripture every day
· 3 min read
A biblical prayer app keeps Scripture at the center of prayer. How to pray the Bible's own words, where to start, and a verse for every prayer card.

A biblical prayer app keeps Scripture at the center of your prayers, so you pray God’s own words back to Him instead of only your own. The Pray App does that by suggesting a Bible verse for every prayer card and putting your Bible reading next to your prayer list.
What is a biblical prayer app?
A biblical prayer app is a prayer app built around Scripture. Each request comes with a Bible verse to pray, the app helps you pray the Bible’s own prayers, and you can read the Bible in the same place you pray. The goal is prayer that is shaped by God’s Word, not just by what’s on your mind that day.
Why pray with Scripture?
Praying with Scripture shapes our requests by God’s will. “This is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us” (1 John 5:14, ESV). The surest way to know His will is His Word. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105, ESV).
Scripture is also alive. “The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword” (Hebrews 4:12, ESV). When we pray it, we pray with words God promised would not return to Him empty (Isaiah 55:11). Paul told the Colossians, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Colossians 3:16, ESV), and prayer is one of the places it dwells.
How do you pray Scripture?
Praying Scripture means reading a passage slowly and turning it into prayer:
- Read a verse or two. Slowly, more than once.
- Notice what it shows about God. Thank Him for it.
- Turn its words into a request. Put a name in it, or your own need.
- Confess where it shows your sin, and receive His forgiveness.
For example, from Philippians 4:6-7: “Lord, I bring You my worry about Dad’s surgery. Guard his heart and mind, and mine, with Your peace that surpasses understanding.”
Which Bible passages are best to pray?
The Bible passages that are easiest to pray are the prayers already in Scripture:
- The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13), the pattern Jesus gave.
- The Psalms. Psalm 23 for trust, Psalm 51 for confession, Psalm 103 for thanks, Psalm 13 for waiting.
- Paul’s prayers for the churches: Ephesians 1:16-19, Ephesians 3:14-19, Philippians 1:9-11, Colossians 1:9-12.
- Promises to pray back to God: Isaiah 41:10, Romans 8:28, Philippians 4:19.

How does The Pray App put Scripture in your prayers?
The Pray App suggests a Bible verse for each prayer card. When you make a card, tap Bible verse under Details, pick one of the Suggested verses, tap Suggest for different ones, or type your own verse and reference and tap Add Verse.
Pick a suggested verse for each prayer card, or add your own.
When you pray, the verse shows on the card with the prayer and the person’s name. Daily Bible Reading on Home sets up a plan through the New Testament, Old Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs, and Commentary under a passage gives a short explanation.
Read the day’s passages alongside your prayers.
Is The Pray App right for you?
The Pray App fits Christians who want every prayer anchored in Scripture and who pray for specific people and needs on an iPhone. It doesn’t read the Bible aloud or offer audio-guided prayers. If you want your prayer list and the Bible in one quiet place, it was built for that. See also Christian prayer app.
The Pray App is free on the App Store, with no ads. See how to create a prayer card.
